As part of this activity, outdoor activities were organised, including traditional games and a race in which students carried messages about the importance of eye health and the need to spend time away from screens (mobile phones and computers).<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW139434442 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW139434442 BCX0\"> In addition, the students painted these messages in the form of a mural on a wall provided by the Anselmo Nieto Educational Unit. The local media and the Facebook page of the Departmental Health Service (SEDES) of Oruro echoed the initiatives implemented and the international <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW139434442 BCX0\">objectives<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW139434442 BCX0\"> of the #LoveYourEyes campaign.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW139434442 BCX0\" data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\">In the municipality of <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW244346034 BCX0\">Yunchar\u00e1<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\">, <\/span><\/span><strong><span class=\"TextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\">Department of Tarija<\/span><\/span><\/strong><span class=\"TextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\">, a drawing contest was organised for students aged 12 to 18, entitled \u2018Love your eyes<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\">\u2019. Six educational units and around 300 students <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\">participated<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\">. Each academic unit presented the five best <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun ContextualSpellingAndGrammarErrorV2Themed SCXW244346034 BCX0\">works<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\"> and, in this way, 30 finalist drawings were obtained. The jury, composed of officials from the mayor&#8217;s office, the school district administration and the <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW244346034 BCX0\">Yunchar\u00e1<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\"> police, chose a painting by a student from the Jos\u00e9 <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW244346034 BCX0\">Ballivi\u00e1n<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\"> Educational Unit, who received a bicycle as a prize. In addition, the 30 finalists received backpacks with school supplies. And the educational units were incentivised with sports equipment for daily use in the schools. A walk under the slogan \u2018For visual health\u2019 also took place, with the participation of around 300 people, <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\">mainly students<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\"> accompanied by their teachers, local and health centre authorities, and the general population. In addition, the students organised an information fair which raised awareness of the importance of eye health among 250 people. The students themselves were trained as eye health promoters and <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun AdvancedProofingIssueV2Themed SCXW244346034 BCX0\">were in charge of<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\"> following up on the use of eyeglasses with their classmates in <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW244346034 BCX0\">the schools. Firstly, an information fair with the participation of various groups: resident ophthalmologists from the INO, offering information on eye health to the public; ophthalmologists who explained how to prevent and treat some childhood eye diseases; and Optics and Optometry students, who advi<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW91664834 BCX0\">s<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW91664834 BCX0\">e<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW91664834 BCX0\">d<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW91664834 BCX0\"> on eye health prevention. With the support of the National Bank of Bolivia and together with the Sports Schools of the Sports Department of the Autonomous Government of La Paz, some 800 students between the ages of four and 18 were tested for visual acuity at the INO. 46 of these students received ophthalmological attention at INO and 42 obtained glasses. In addition, the INO launched a free amblyopia screening campaign for children aged four to 18 on 10, 11 and 12 October. The campaign was provided to some 200 children by paediatric ophthalmologists. These activities were broadcast on the RTP television channel, the radio programme <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW91664834 BCX0\">Inf\u00f3rmanos<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW91664834 BCX0\"> on 99.9 <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW91664834 BCX0\">Melod\u00eda<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW91664834 BCX0\"> FM, and the INO&#8217;s social networks.<\/span><\/span><span class=\"EOP SCXW91664834 BCX0\" data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"TextRun SCXW113536651 BCX0\" lang=\"EN-GB\" xml:lang=\"EN-GB\" data-contrast=\"none\"><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW113536651 BCX0\">C\u00e1ritas <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW113536651 BCX0\">Coroico<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW113536651 BCX0\"> also joined in the activities promoted by Eyes of the world on World Sight Day by providing refractive care to some 40 people and holding a fair at the health centre in the community of Challa, which was attended by some 150 people who were contacted through the C\u00e1ritas radio station, radio Virgen de la Candelaria 106.1 FM <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW113536651 BCX0\">Coroico<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW113536651 BCX0\">, radio <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW113536651 BCX0\">Coroico<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW113536651 BCX0\"> 90 FM and on the C\u00e1ritas <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW113536651 BCX0\">Coroico<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW113536651 BCX0\"> Facebook page. In the previous weeks, specifically from 24 to 27 September, ophthalmological care was provided in the educational units of Santa Catalina, Copacabana, F\u00e1tima and <\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SpellingErrorV2Themed SCXW113536651 BCX0\">Apacheta<\/span><span class=\"NormalTextRun SCXW113536651 BCX0\">, in the municipality of Apolo.
