She is a former civil servant and lawyer. She was a member of the Commission for the Revision of the Civil Code (1976-1977).<\/p>\n<p>She has held various posts, including <strong>secretary of State to to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers<\/strong> (1982-83), <strong>secretary of State for Social Security <\/strong>(1983-85), <strong>minister of Health<\/strong> (1985-90), <strong>member of the Portuguese Parliament<\/strong>, <strong>vice-president of the Portuguese Parliament<\/strong> (1991-94 and 2002-2005).<\/p>\n<p>She was president of the General Council of the University of Lisbon (2013-2021) and she is a member of the Council of State and president of the Association EPIS &#8211; Entrepreneurs for Social Inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>She is <strong>president of the Champalimaud Foundation<\/strong> by testamentary designation of its founder, Ant\u00f3nio Champalimaud.<\/p>\n<p>Date of appointment: 20 June 2024<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>She holds a Law degree from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.
