Jordi Fontcuberta Villa was born in Barcelona in 1956. He studied Business Administration at ESADE Business School. In 2000, he participated in the Programme for Leadership Development organised by IESE Business School.

Fontcuberta started his career in 1979 as an auditor at Arthur Andersen. In 1981, he joined the advertisement agency Danis, Benton & Bowles SA where he worked as a director of finance and director of the accounts of some of the company’s main clients. In 1987, he was promoted to director of finance of all B&B companies in Spain. In 1991, Fontcuberta joined Martini & Rossi as a deputy director. When the company merged with Bacardi and became Bacardi-Martini, he was given several responsibilities in the finance department. In 1997, Fontcuberta joined General Optica SA. He joined the company as the CFO but, since 2000, he has been the CEO of the company.

Between 2000 and 2002, Fontcuberta was a member of the Plenary Council of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce. Moreover, throughout his career, he has actively participated in organisations related to his business field. While working in the advertisement business, he was the vice-president of the Association of Advertisers of Catalonia. Currently, he is the president of the Spanish Association of Chains of Opticians (AECO, in Spanish) and a spokesperson of Visión y Vida and the Spanish Federation of Opticians Associations (FEDAO, in Spanish).
