In Bolivia, activities to guarantee the right to eye health and promote equal opportunities for all people are ongoing.
In September, an eye care day was held at the Kusisita Kamasiñani Special Education Centre, located in the municipality of Achocalla (La Paz). During the day, 49 people (39 students with disabilities and 10 teachers) with eye problems had their vision checked and their prescription measured so that glasses could be fitted. All of them, children and adults alike, had the opportunity to choose the most suitable frames to feel comfortable and confident when wearing them.
The free delivery of glasses took place at the same centre a few days later. The centre was decked out for the occasion with a programme of recreational activities that included traditional dances from the Bolivian highlands and was attended by community leaders and government representatives.
The initiative was made possible thanks to the coordinated efforts of Eyes of the world, the Inclusive Community Foundation (Inclusive World Programme), the Dr. Moya Foundation, and Todá Adonai Opticians.
