14 December 1955, San Sebastian. Andrés Müller-Thyssen earned a degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of the Basque Country in 1981 and specialised in ophthalmology in 1988, studying at the University of Bordeaux (France).

His career has been developed since 1988 in San Sebastian, at the Donostia University Hospital, where he currently works as a retina specialist ophthalmologist. Since 2004 he collaborates as a volunteer in eyes of the world, participating in all the projects, being medical supervisor of the Mozambique program between 2006-2008 and since 2008, supervisor of the Mali program.
