Guissona, 1958. Josep Santacreu has a degree in Medicine from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a PhD in Business Administration and Management from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. He also holds a diploma in Hospital Management and in Business Administration and Management from ESADE, and in Health Economics from the University of Barcelona.

His professional career began in 1985 as executive secretary of Medicus Mundi International in Spain. Between 1988 and 1992, he was medical director of Hospital del Mar (Barcelona), Olympic Hospital of the Olympic Games of Barcelona 1992 and Hospital Award of the year 1992. During the period 1992-1996, he directed the Hospital Complex Juan Canalejo (A Coruña ). Between 1996 and 1997, he was manager of the Quirón Clinic in Barcelona. In 1997, he was appointed CEO of Previasa. From that position he pilots the acquisition, in 1998, of the insurer by the German company DKV AG, becoming the CEO of DKV Seguros.

In addition, he is CEO of ERGO Generals and President of Marina Salud, S.A. and the DKV Integralia Foundation, created by DKV Seguros for the social-labor insertion of people with disabilities. It belongs to different professional associations such as the Chamber of Commerce of Barcelona; German Chamber of Commerce; president of Respon.cat; member of the Board of Directors of the Círculo de Empresarios (Madrid) and president of its Corporate Responsibility Committee; Esade Alumni; FemCAT.

He is part of the trustee board and advisory board of numerous social foundations: president of the DKV Integralia Foundation in Spain, chairman of the Board of the Ship2B Foundation, vice president of the Plant for the Planet Spain Foundation, trustee of the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, trustee of the Fondo Fondo Kati, among others.
