Lluís Reverter i Gelabert was born in Barcelona in 1943. He is a member of the Council of Finance of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Barcelona and member of the Board of Trustees of the Amatller Foundation and the Pau Casals Foundation.

Throughout his career in politics, Lluís Reverter has held several offices, including that of Councillor for Citizen Relations of Barcelona City Council (1979–1983), Vice-President of the “Trade Fair” of Barcelona (1979–1983), President of the Barcelona Municipal Board of Tourism (1979–1983), General Manager of Information, Social and Safety Relations (1982–1991) and member of the Executive Board of EXPO-92. Between 1991 and 1993, he was the General Secretary of Coordination and Services of the Presidency of the Spanish Government. Moreover, between 1993 and 2013, he was the General Manager of “La Caixa” Foundation. Until February 2017, he was a spokesperson of the Board of Directors of Patrimonio Nacional (National Heritage).

Lluís Reverter has received the Grand Cross of several orders (civil, military, naval, and aeronautical merit, all of them received with White Decoration). He also received the Institutional Medal Barcelona ’92 and the Gold Medal of the Barcelona Official International Trade Fair. In addition, he was awarded the honorary title of Distinguished Promoter of Public Relations of the University of Barcelona.

He has also been awarded international honours. He was appointed Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire and of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany, and Grand Officer of several orders—Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, Order of the Liberator, Order of the Star of Jordan, among others.
